Still no development on my phone line application. Globe has a really slow credit management team. In any case, I believe this is a Jap-food trip week! I ended up dining in at Tokyo Cafe in SM Mall of Asia.
Starting my no-carbs diet with the following orders:
Chicken Teriyaki Salad - Lettuce, tomatoes, and corn tossed with a tangy dressing tapped with chicken teriyaki strips and fried tortilla
Tokyo Boneless Chicken - Herbed chicken served with special gravy
Sinful:
Mushroom and Garlic Pizza (not in the picture) - Mushroom, garlic, parmesan and mozzarella on thin crust
Check their official website.
After the long wait of processing requirements and documents at the Globe Center in MOA (which by the way did not result in anything so significant), my officemate and I decided to dine in at Tempura Japanese Grill to de-stress.
I ordered for the following:
1. Uncle Sam’s Maki サムおじさん まき
Rolled maki with shrimp, cream cheese, cucumber strips and mango topped with bacon and mayo
2. Kaisen Raisu 海鮮ライス
Sweet and spicy fried rice with shrimp, scallops, cream dory, corn, carrots and asparagus with spicy and crunchy anchovies
3. Tori Teriyaki とりてりやき
Sizzling fried tofu topped with diced beef tenderloin, winter mushroom and asparagus spears in special Japanese steak sauce

Conti’s Pastry Shop and Restaurant, Trinoma
Before this dinner with my family, we only buy what Conti’s, I think, is known for — their Mango Bravo! It was our first time to dine in at Conti’s and we were all delighted with the quality of the food they served — from the plating, ingredients and even combinations of side dishes with the main course. I have to mention the good service we got from their very accommodating food servers!
This is what we had for dinner:
1. Crispy Squidlets (Squid heads fried to a golden crisp served with sweet and sour sauce sprinkled with chili flakes)
2. Buffalo Wings (Chicken wings glazed with zesty tomato sauce served with blue cheese)
3. Healthy Tofu Salad (Herb - Cheese crusted tofu, pan fried in olive oil until golden and crisp. Served with fresh green salad drizzled with tangy tomato vinaigrette dressing)
4. Tofu Steak (Healthy chunks of tofu stir fried with shiitake mushrooms, seasoned and served with crab salad and Japanese fried rice.)
5. Seafood Au Gratin (Fillet of fish with assorted seafood sauce topped with melted cheese served over garlic rice)

Viewsite Restaurant, Tagaytay City
Liempo is one of my all-time favorite dishes! To end a stressful week, we usually go out for dinner in Tagaytay — but we choose not to dine in at the more popular restos. Viewsite is my favorite spot — so quiet and cold — where I enjoy the Tron-like view of the town around the Taal Lake. Plus they offer tasty local dishes at a very reasonable price!
Buffalo’s Wings N’ Things at Solaris One, Makati along Dela Rosa St. (11-18-11)
Tried their 1 Pound New York’s Finest and NY Dirty Rice on the side. Buff wings over spicy signature sauces. We tried NY Finest with a legend of 2-fires - so-so spicy. The Rookie is for the conservative with 1-fire legend; the Firehouse Classic with 3 fires. I shall return if I am brave enough to try their “Nuclear” and “Armageddon.” These must be extra, extra, extra spicy!

He has a point. Reality bites. When do you use English? On your job interview, talking to your profs or bosses, presenting in class or defending a report, writing your thesis, writing your excuse letters, drafting a memo, even court decisions, etc… “It is the language of the learned.” And when do you speak in Filipino? Pag nagbabayad ka sa jeep, pag nakikipagusap ka sa guard, o may iuutos sa janitor, etc… Soriano’s simply questioning why is this our reality and why proficiency in English (oral or written) is an advantage. Right?
